I try my hand on playing this game. This is Crimson Alive: Extreme Encounter. Developed by KEROPYON: http://www014.upp.so-net.ne.jp/keropyon/
What I can say about this game is that it's fun to play. What kind of disappoints me is that it lacks that Quick Battle mode if you just want a casual spar with someone and a Training Mode which gives you a chance to train using some characters. You have to play Arcade Mode just to give yourself a challenge. Also, the flow of the gameplay can be stiff at times (so stiff, it forced me to play this game at Difficulty Level 1), but just get used to it and the game won't be that bad. Thats just my opinion, of course.
Here's my interpretation of the games story based from unreliable Google translations. If anyone can correct me, feel free to do so.
In the Year 19XX AD, an outbreak known as the Irregular Gate Phenomenon plunged the world into confusion and fear. This event was of a distortion of space which caused the Irregulars from another world to appear. These creatures possess the ability to morph into other beings of endless varieties and even emulate their special talents, enabling them blend in with mankind. This went on until 20XX when some people with special talents decide to step up and fight.
For this playthrough, I play as Rubette Folnarc, someone who has Cable's gameplay on a diet. In other words, she's projectile-spam friendly. However, she's pretty slow in mobility, so she's fine in my book.
Rubette, based on my interpretation, is some sort of detective working for the Church who has been sent to Japan to investigate on the occurrences of Irregulars showing up in there.
Opponents for this part: 1. Ringring: She seems to be the Hayato of the game. 2. Lieyan: In every fighting game I've seen, theres always at least one character that practices Chinese martial arts. 3. Nightphobia Type I: This thing here seems to resemble Sagat when firing projectiles. 4. Amane Asakura: She must be the Kohaku of the game. Also pulls off an Edward Elric at times.
